Despite repeated complaints about the garbage dump near the statues of five freedom fighters, including Bhagat Singh, Rajaguru, Sukhdev, Kartar Singh Sarabha and Shaheed Baba Bhan Singh, in Bhai Randhir Singh Nagar in ward number 57, municipal corporation (MC) has failed to take any action to clean the area.

The garbage dump can also be seen near Gadar Shaheed Baba Bhan Singh Park. Moreover, debris of houses and other waste material is also lying there from past many years.
The area residents have been strongly appealing the authorities to remove the dump from this memorial place, but nothing has been done until now.
One of the area said, "Many of the residents are suffering due to the foul smell coming from the garbage. I have submitted complaints to the MC but authorities are showing no interest to remove this garbage. A to Z garbage lifter do not come to the place to take the garbage. They hardly come two times in a month to clean the area."
Another resident Aman Singh said, "The civic body is least concern about this memorial place and are disrespecting the freedom fighters. During the rainy season, foul smells from the garbage dumps make things worse."
Despite several attempts, Veeran Bedi, councillor of ward number 57, was not available for comments.
Amarjeet Singh Sekhon, chief of health and sanitation wing MC Ludhiana, said "I will visit the spot and will make sure that the area is clean."
