Pedestrian killed after being hit by speeding car

A pedestrian was killed and two others critically injured when a speeding Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) hit them in the town on Wednesday. The deceased has been identified as Malkit Kaur, while the injured have been identified as Jaswant Kaur and Ajmer Kaur. All three are residents of Kahanpur village in the district.

In another case, Patiala resident Gurpreet Singh, who was on a scooter, was killed after being hit by a speeding tractor in Mandi Gobindgarh. The victim's father Gurdit Singh claimed the tractor was being driven in a very rash manner hit his son's vehicle.

In both the accidents, the police have registered a case under Section 304-A (causing death by negligence) and 279 (rash driving on a public way) of the Indian Penal Code against the accused.
