Radical Sikh group Dal Khalsa has urged the executive members of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) to refrain from taking any harsh decision against the Panj Pyaras (five beloved ones of the guru).
“You must take a decision as per wishes of the Panth and not keeping interests of their political masters in mind,” Dal Khalsa spokesperson Kanwarpal Singh stated in a statement issued in Amritsar on Thursday.
The 15-member SGPC executive (including 4 office bearers) will meet here on Friday to take up the case of Panj Pyaras, who had issued a fresh directive to the executive on Monday to sack the jathedars of Akal Takht, Takht Keshgarh Sahib and Takht Damdama Sahib by January 2 for their role in pardoning Dera Sacha Sauda head Gurmeet Ram Rahim in a blasphemy case.
The Panj Pyaras had warned that if the jathedars were not sacked, then the subsequent plan would be announced on January 2.
He cautioned Makkar not to repeat his folly of suspending or dismissing Panj Pyaras.
