The Indian contingent finished the 2018 Asian Games with its best ever display, clinching 69 medals which included 15 gold wins. Among the winners was Harish Kumar, who won bronze in Sepak takraw (kick volleyball). Back from the games, Harish has resumed his day job at his father’s tea stall in Delhi’s Majnu ka Tilla.
Divyansh Singh Panwar and Shreya Agarwal first took the fifth and final qualification spot among 42 teams with a score of 834.4 and then shot a combined 435 in the finals to fetch the third place. read more
Odisha Governor Ganeshi Lal felicitated Asian Games double silver medalist sprinter Dutee Chand on Monday. She was invited along with her family to receive the honour. Dutee won two silver medals in 100m and 200m race. Government also announced a whopping amount of Rs. 3 crore for her achievements. Chand, who had been dropped from the 2014 Commonwealth Games on account of having more than the then prescribed limit, had challenged these rules at the Centre for Arbitration of Sport (CAS) in Lausanne, and won. IAAF’s new rules are an outcome of this case — 100m, the category Chand runs in, is exempt.read more
