Shukla joined the Trinamool Congress in February 2016 and won the assembly elections the same year from Howrah. He was made the minister of state for sports and youth affairs. Later he was also made the president of the TMC’s Howrah district unit.

The Calcutta HC had banned the use of fireworks during Kali Puja, Diwali and Chhath Puja in November this year across the state. The Supreme Court has refused to reverse a ban on sale or use of firecrackers in West Bengal during the festive month of November, saying that preservation of life should be top priority in a country faced with a pandemic.

Police have arrested one person after a BJP worker who was shot at near his home in Bagnan town on October 24. succumbed at a Kolkata hospital on October 28.

She lost her father-in-law to Covid-19, the day she herself tested positive. Her brother in-law, who too, had tested positive, is still in hospital. The nursing staff and doctors named the child Armaan, which in Arabic, means hope.

The cops were attacked when they went to disperse a huge crowd that had gathered in a market area around 4:30 pm violating lockdown norms at Belilious Road, a containment zone in Howrah district. Howrah district is one of the four red zones of West Bengal.
