Kashmir’s upper reaches receive fresh snow, incessant rain lashes plains

The MeT office has predicted wet weather for two more days in Kashmir. The temperature dropped by 8 to 10 degree Celsius in most parts of Kashmir. Gurez and Tulail in Bandipora district recorded more than 6 inches of snow during the past 24 hours. The rains saw the water level rising in all the streams including the Jhelum.

Met predicts more rains in Jammu and Kashmir from Monday

The weather was fair in Jammu and Kashmir with sunshine for the major part of the day. MeT officials said weather remained mainly clear in the region but expected a brief spell of rain and thunderstorm at isolated places in the evening.

Heat wave conditions prevail in North India

The weather remained dry in the desert state even as Met officials warned that heat wave conditions would likely occur at isolated places in west Rajasthan during the next 48 hours.

The maximum temperature recorded in Jammu was 40.1 degrees Celsius — 3.3 notches above the normal during this time of the season, a Met Department official said.(HT Photo)

Stranded Valley-bound Kashmiris appeal governor to help send them back

Authorities clamped the curfew after violence was reported from Gujjar Nagar and other Muslim-dominated pockets of Jammu during a massive anti-Pakistan protest against the Pulwama attack.

“Hundreds of Kashmiris from various parts of Valley have been left stranded here and we all want to go back to our homes” said Habibullah, a 71-year-old Budgam resident.(PTI)
