Anandi joins reality dance brigade

Actor Pratyusha Banerjee known for playing Anandi in the show Balika Vadhu, will now be tackling two onscreen stints. The TV star is all set to participate in the fifth season of dance reality show, Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa, which will be aired on Colors.

The 21-year-old says, “I am very excited to be a part of this show. I am a little bit nervous as well because Madhuri Dixit, who is such as great actor and dancer, and Karan Johar are the judges of the show.”

Pratyusha, who is a trained Kathak dancer has been enjoying all the hardwork.

“I have been working for 20 hours a day. As a result of hardwork, I have lost weight and now even my jaw line is visible — adding to the feel good factor of working hard,” adds the actor.

So is she feeling threatened by the competition as the lineup also includes trained dancers? “I am here to enjoy myself and to entertain the audience. Even though I am also trained, the dances I’m learning are tough but exciting. I love to dance and sing and hence I am here, without a sense of it being a competition,” she says. Pratyusha refuses to disclose the name of her choreographer, but reveals something about Anandi. When asked if she will be reuniting with onscreen husband Jagya, on Balika Vadhu, she says, “You can be sure that I won’t be going back to him.”
