Kadaknath becomes a new source of livelihood for Dantewada women

The black chicken that is the colour of a raven from crown to toes has become a new source of livelihood for women in Naxal-affected Dantewada district of Chhattisgarh. Its meat is considered a delicacy for its gamey flavour, unusual appearance, aphrodisiac properties, and more recently for the fact that it is high in protein and low in fats, including cholesterol.
