Ghazal singer Jagjit Singh passes away

Acclaimed Ghazal singer Jagjit Singh passed away at Mumbai's Lilavati Hospital today. He was admitted in the hospital on September 23 and was operated the same evening after suffering a brain haemorrhage. He was since then kept in Intensive care unit (ICU). The 70-year-old maestro, who shot to fame in 70s along with his singer-wife Chitra, had been suffering from high blood pressure for some time now. Known as 'Ghazal King' of India, Jagjit Singh, was born in Sri Ganganagar, Rajasthan. He had four sisters and two brothers, and was fondly called as Jeet by his family.
