India comes to IRIS Dena's rescue: Navy reveals details as Iran seethes over USA's torpedo attack

India has clarified its role after a U.S. submarine sank the Iranian frigate IRIS Dena near Sri Lanka. The Indian Navy said the vessel was outside India’s jurisdiction but confirmed it launched humanitarian search-and-rescue operations after a distress call, deploying aircraft and ships including INS Tarangini. The operation was coordinated with Sri Lankan authorities after the warship—returning from India’s multinational naval exercise MILAN—was struck about 40 nautical miles off Galle.
