JNU violence: CPM’s Sitaram Yechury demands VC’s ouster as protests continue

Leaders of Left parties joined the protest at Jawaharlal Nehru University against the violence perpetrated on January 5, 2020. A masked mob had wreaked havoc at the varsity, thrashing students and teachers. Communist Party of India (Marxist) leaders Sitaram Yechury and Prakash Karat were seen at the protest in which JNU students and teachers also reportedly participated. Speaking to the media, Yechury put forth three demands to the government, including the removal of the university's vice-chancellor.
