The Indian Coat Guard inducted ICGS Samudra Prahari, a special ship to control marine pollution at Mumbai on Saturday. Earlier, this ship was launched by Ashok Chavan, chief of Maharashtra, at the Naval Dockyar. Top ranking officers of the defence forces and civil dignitaries of the central and the state governments were also present on the occasion. The ship will play a major role in controlling damage from oil spills like the recent one at the city harbour. Chavan also announced that a 20-acre plot has been sanctioned at Marve, near INS Hamla for a Coast Guard base.
