Tribals eat red ants for survival

The ethnic tribes of Orissa has a strange way of curing their diseases. The poor and backward tribals, who have no access to any medical facilities, fall back on their traditional wisdom. They eat a particular species of red ants that live on decayed tree trunks. These ants are available at local markets of Jajpur district of Orissa. Baskets full of these creepy-crawlies draw Munda, Majhi and Mahant tribals like magnets.
