Chhath Puja begins, devotees get Ganga water at doorstep for performing rituals

<p>The four-day Chhath Puja celebrations commenced on Wednesday, November 18 amid Covid-19 pandemic. Authorities have prepared ghats for devotees to pay obeisance to Lord Sun. Around a million devotees throng ghats for celebrating Bihar's biggest festival. On the first day of the festival, devotees observe 'nahai-khai'. They cook 'satvik' food on this day and serve it to deity as 'bhog'. The festival is also observed by people of Jharkhand and eastern Uttar Pradesh. Celebrations conclude with married women offering 'arghya' to Sun God in the morning. Patna administration has taken several steps to prevent the spread of Covid-19. Authorities have urged devotees to perform puja at home to avoid gathering at ghats. Administration is also distributing Ganga water among devotees for performing rituals at home. Several water tanks have been stationed at different locations for the devotees.</p>

1.5 km queue for biryani: Bengaluru eatery sees rush despite Covid

<p>Anand Dum Biriyani's business is booming despite the Covid-19 pandemic. Queues as long as 1.5 km were reportedly seen outside the eatery in Karnataka's Bengaluru. Patrons claimed that they have to wait as much as 2.5 hours to get a taste of their favourite biryani. Heavy rush was seen at the eatery with almost everyone seen wearing masks, but not practicing social distancing. Karnataka's Covid tally has crossed the 7 lakh-mark with over 9,800 deaths so far. Active cases in the state currently number 1.2 lakh. The owner of the eatery reportedly said that thousands of kilograms of biryani are sold everyday. Watch the full video for more.</p>

What does airborne Covid mean? CSIR DG explains as WHO prepares brief

<p>Shekhar C. Mande, director general of Council of Scientific and Industrial Research, explained what an airborne virus means, amid fears that Covid might be transmissible by air. The World Health Organisation has 'acknowledged emerging evidence' that the virus may be airborne. WHO's Technical Lead on Covid-19, Maria Van Kerkhove has also promised a detailed brief on the subject soon. Mande explained that when Covid patients speak, they might be releasing infectious aerosols which stay suspended in air and infect others. Watch the full video for more.</p>

WHO's Technical Lead on Infection Prevention and Control, Benedetta Allegranzi, said that the organisation has to be 'open to the evidence' and understand its 'implications'. <p>We spoke to Delhi based Payel Bhattacharya, who suffers from von Hippel-Lindau or VHL, which is characterised by tumors forming in organs of the body, including in the brain, spine, ears, eyes, lungs, liver, pancreas and kidneys. As result of the disease, she has undergone around 14 surgeries and radiation therapies. She also has trigeminal neuralgia, known as the 'suicide disease,' a condition which actor Salman Khan also suffers from. Inspite of all this, she has authored 3 books.</p>

<p>Mann Kaur (born March 1, 1916) holds world records in the over-100 years category for various events, like the World Masters Athletics Championship in Malaga, Spain.She is coached by her 80-year old son, Gurdev Singh.She takes part various 100 and 200 metre events all over the world. She was also the showstopper along with Milind Soman during the 2017 Amazon India Fashion Week. Some time back, we met her, and she told us about her diet and training regimen. Mann Kaur has also received the 'Nari Shakti Puruskar' from President Ram Nath Kovind on International Women's Day.</p>
