12 of 17 Congress MLAs in Meghalaya switched sides & joined the Trinamool Congress (TMC). Former Meghalaya chief minister Mukul Sangma is one of them, reports said. With the sudden move, TMC, which had no presence in the state became the largest opposition party. This comes after speculations surfaced that Sangma was upset with the Cong leadership. The development comes as Mamata met PM Modi on Wednesday on her New Delhi trip. Mamata also said it is not mandatory to meet Sonia Gandhi every time she visits New Delhi.
