India abstained from UNSC procedural vote to call for a rare emergency session of the UNGA on Ukraine. The resolution was adopted with 11 votes in favour, paving the way for the General Assembly to meet on the crisis as soon as Monday. India, China and the UAE abstained, while Russia voted against the resolution. India, however, welcomed Moscow and Kyiv's decision to hold talks at the Belarus border. “We reiterate our call for an immediate cessation of violence & an end to all hostilities. Our PM has advocated this strongly in his recent conversations with the leadership of the Russian Federation & Ukraine,” said India's Permanent Representative to the UN Ambassador T S Tirumurti.
