Top Australians players have turned down IPL offers, including middle-order batsman Michael Clarke and strike bowler Mitchell Johnson. However, IPL agent Neil Maxwell in his statement on February 19, 2008 said that 13 Australians have signed up for the Twenty20 tournament starting in April. This includes skipper Ricky Ponting, retiring vice-captain Adam Gilchrist and the trio of Shane Warne, Glenn McGrath and Justin Langer, who retired over a year ago.
