Colombian minister drops asylum hint as Petro, Trump speak on call; Bogota to shield Maduro's aides?

Colombia has firmly rejected threats made by the United States against President Gustavo Petro, warning that unilateral actions and the use of force violate international law and the United Nations Charter. Deputy Foreign Minister Mauricio Jaramillo Jassir condemned the U.S. attack on Caracas and said even threats of force must not be normalised. While reiterating Colombia’s opposition to sanctions and blockades, Jaramillo stressed Bogota’s commitment to dialogue, non-interference, and relations between equal states, even as tensions rise following Washington’s capture of Venezuelan leader Nicolás Maduro.
