The new republic of Nepal failed to elect its first president on Saturday when none of the three candidates were able to muster the majority needed to form of a new government. Nepali Congress presidential candidate Ram Baran Yadav will be running in the final round on Monday against Ram Raja Prasad Singh, who is backed by the Maoists. Kul Bahadur Gurung, announced the results and confirmed the continuation of the political deadlock.
