New Year’s ball tested above Times Square

The iconic New Year's Eve crystal ball has taken its place atop Times Square, ahead of the famous New Year celebrations in New York. The massive Times Square New Year's Eve ball is 12 feet in diameter and weighs 5,385 kilograms. It is covered with 2,688 Waterford Crystal triangles and is lit with 32,256 Philips Luxeon Rebel LEDs.
