A United Airlines flight experienced a mishap while landing at Orlando International Airport on Sunday afternoon.

According to United's website, Flight 2323 took off from Chicago's O'Hare International Airport at 8:55 a.m. and arrived in Orlando at 12:35 p.m.

In the video, the scary landing of the plane is seen during which the nose wheel appeared to detach from the aircraft's landing gear as it touched down.

Incident and Flight details

United Airlines Flight 2323 (UA2323) operated a two-year-old Airbus A321neo registered as N14502. The flight landed at MCO just after 12:30 PM on Sunday, January 18.

Video footage shared by people present in the airport shows the aircraft making a rough landing under gusty conditions.

At first, the landing appeared to be somewhat typical, with the left rear wheels landing before the right. But as the forward wheels touched down and the left rear wheels returned to the air, the aircraft bounced to the right.

One forward nose wheel appears to roll off the landing gear and separate from the aircraft before it comes to a halt on the runway.

Airport authorities and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) responded by issuing a ground stop. Arrivals and departures were temporarily halted at MCO while the plane was removed from the runway and inspected.

There were 200 passengers and six crew members on board, according to a statement from United Airlines.

There have been no reports of injuries.

The weather was unfavourable

Orlando's weather was not ideal for landing as it was raining and windy at the time.

Orlando International Airport reported a 54 mph wind gust at 12:30 p.m. The National Weather Service reports a 56 mph wind gust at neighboring Orlando Executive Airport.

However, it is unclear if the weather was responsible for the landing mishap.
