The couple is survived by their three children — Jake, 34, Nick, 32, and Romy, 28. Rob had also adopted a daughter named Tracy during his first marriage to her mother, the late Penny Marshall.

Romy discovered her parents dead in their Brentwood, Los Angeles, residence, sources told PEOPLE. Shortly after, police apprehended Nick in relation to the murders. He has been charged with two counts of first-degree murder in the deaths of his parents.

The Reiner family announced the death of Rob and Michelle in a statement to Variety, “It is with profound sorrow that we announce the tragic passing of Michele and Rob Reiner. We are heartbroken by this sudden loss, and we ask for privacy during this unbelievably difficult time.”

What is Rob Reiner's net worth?

At the time of his passing, Rob Reiner's net worth was estimated to be $200 million, as reported by Celebrity Net Worth. His final project as a director, writer, and actor was Spinal Tap II: The End Continues.

Reiner continued to hold the position of CEO at Castle Rock Entertainment, while his wife Michelle worked alongside Matthew George as co-president. In 2021, The Hollywood Reporter announced that the company planned to allocate $175 million towards their film division.

Who will be the heir to Rob Reiner’s estate?

As of now, Rob Reiner’s will remains undisclosed. However, California’s Slayer Statute might determine that his son, Nick, is ineligible to inherit anything from his will. Should he be found guilty of murder, he would be barred from serving as an executor, trustee, guardian, conservator, or custodian of the estate.

Citing records from the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department, People reported that Nick is currently being held on a $4 million bail. Sources informed the publication that Rob and Michelle were discovered by their daughter Romy.

Nick did not appear for first court hearing

Alan Jackson, Nick's attorney, informed reporters that he is representing Nick. He told the media outside the Los Angeles Superior Court that his client would be unable to attend his first scheduled court appearance on Tuesday because he has not been medically cleared.
