Highest honour for SRK
The popular actor was awarded with Wissame Al Kafaa Al Fikria Award (award of intellectual merit) – the highest honour of the – by the prince of Morocco, Moulay Rachid, at the Royal Dinner. He is the first Indian to have received the honour there. In the 2003 edition of the festival, Amitabh Bachchan was conferred with the Medal of Honour of Morocco by King Mohammed, head of state. This year, on the occasion of the centenary celebrations of Indian cinema, Big B was felicitated with a special honour, which he received on behalf of the film fraternity.
PC saves best for last
Priyanka Chopra might have not accompanied the Bollywood contingent that attended the opening of the fest on November 30, but she made her presence felt on the closing day. The actor interacted with the huge number of fans that had gathered there before the screening of two of her films – Don (2006) and Barfi!.
Hrithik fetches a deal
Moroccans seem to love Hrithik Roshan. Apparently, many shopkeepers of the local souvenir stores readily offered huge discounts to international guests who mentioned that they’d come down especially to watch Hrithik’s movies.
Zoya stays busy
Director Zoya Akhtar made the most of her visit to the festival. Before the screening of her last directorial Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara (2011), she came on to the stage and addressed the gathering. She also made a point to attend the lunch and dinner organised for the international directors.
