Though he made his directorial debut with Band Baaja Baaraat (2010), Maneesh Sharma has been toying with the idea of his upcoming film, featuring Shah Rukh Khan, for over a decade now. Be it his first film, Ladies Vs Ricky Bahl (2011) or Shuddh Desi Romance (2013), music has been an integral part of all his movies. However, Maneesh now admits that his upcoming movie will be “songless”. It will only have one promotional track.
“It’s a film with no songs. Though we never planned to have a track in it, we wanted to see Gaurav (Shah Rukh’s character in the film) dance to a fun number. We also wanted to have a song that would depict the emotions of a fan. It’s an exciting dance number. I am sure the audience will enjoy it,” says Maneesh.

The director adds that the song will be released on February 16, in Delhi. It has been composed by Vishal Dadlani and Shekhar Ravjiani, and has been sung by Nakash Aziz. “The song happened very organically. Shah Rukh’s look is one of the most exciting features of it,” says Maneesh, who calls himself a “fan of SRK”.
Ask him if he is apprehensive about releasing a Shah Rukh film without songs, and he says, “I am sure when people will watch the trailer of the movie, they will know what the film is all about. We want to give viewers a new movie experience. The film doesn’t need any songs. And we ensured that this track doesn’t hamper the essence of the film,” says Maneesh.
