In a significant reshuffle in the state's bureaucracy, the SAD-BJP government on Friday appointed NS Kang as the new financial commissioner, revenue (FCR), replacing AR Talwar. Talwar has been moved to industries department as principal secretary.
Gurinderjit Singh Sandhu replaces Kang as the new financial commissioner, development (FCD), while Satish Chandra is the new principal secretary, finance. Chandra will also hold charge of the planning department, while Talwar will also handle IT department.
Other senior officials in the ranks of financial commissioner/principal secretary with new postings include Suresh Kumar (local bodies), KBS Sidhu (irrigation), Jagpal Singh Sandhu (animal husbandry, fisheries), Karan Avtar Singh (science and technology, non-conventional energy), Vini Mahajan (health and family welfare), Viswajit Khanna (cooperation).
SK Sandhu is in charge of housing and urban development, in addition to being principal secretary to CM), Kalpana Mittal Barua (resident commissioner, Delhi, in addition to handling investment and promotion in Delhi), Himmat Singh (member-secretary, state women commission), Sarvesh Kaushal (freedom fighters department) and SS Channi (cultural affairs, technical education and industrial training).
Chief secretary Rakesh Singh has been given additional charge of governance reforms and the vigilance department.
Further, BS Sudan is the new secretary in the revenue department, while Sanjay Kumar will hold the post in the water supply and sanitation department.
Other in these ranks are Anjali Bhawara (medical education and research), Anirudh Tiwari (power, public relations, personnel and general administration), and PS Aujla (public works department, sports and youth services).
DS Grewal retains the post of secretary, food and civil supplies, while Raminder Singh has been picked as commissioner of Ferozepur and Faridkot divisions.
Ashok Gupta is the new managing director of Punjab Agro. He will also be secretary, coordination.
