Punjab MC elections: EC extends polling time by 1 hour

A day before the elections, the state election commission on Saturday extended polling time by one hour. Now the polling hours would be from 8 am to 5 pm.

An official spokesman of the SEC said the amendment in the timing of polling for the 6 Municipal Corporations and by-election of 3 wards of 2 Municipal Corporations (Patiala and Jalandhar) and 122 Municipal Councils/Nagar Panchayats elections were made to enable the voters to cast their votes easily. He said that many political parties and independent candidates had been pressing for extending the polling hours.
