The administration plans to build east bypass over land belonging to Railway Authority of India to connect traffic coming from Zirakpur with railway lightpoint near Manimajra.

For the bypass, UT finance secretary said the administration would acquire land from railways and would give them land elsewhere.

The west bypass will be built near Mullanpur.

The authorities will soon submit the proposal to the governor for approval.

Meanwhile, UT finance secretary took stock of progress of railway underbridge (RUB) coming up at Mauli Jagran.

To take care of heavy intensity of vehicular traffic, the UT engineering department is building an RUB in collaboration with the Railway Authority of India. The RUB will have a separate lane for motor vehicles and bicycles.

There is also a proposal to widen the existing road of railways starting from Madhya Marg to meet at the RUB to ease the traffic coming and going from Zirakpur and adjoining area to IT Park and Panchkula.

UT finance secretary VK Singh said the RUB would ease traffic congestion and also improve connectivity with Panchkula.
