Eid-ul-Azha on December 21

The Shahi Imam of Fatehpuri Masjid says the new moon of Zil Haj has been sighted and Eid-ul-Azha will be on Dec 21.

Eid-ul-Azha will be celebrated across the country on December 21.

The announcement was made by chief priests of two prominent mosques in the capital - the Fatehpuri Masjid and the Jama Masjid on Tuesday.

"The new moon of Zil Haj was sighted and Eid-ul-Azha will be on December 21," Maulana Mufti Mohammed Mukkaram, the Shahi Imam of Fatehpuri Masjid, said in a statement.

A similar announcement was made by Shahi Imam of Jama Masjid Syed Ahmed Bukhari.

Eid-ul-Zuha, also known as Bakr Eid, is a commemoration of Prophet Ibrahim's willingness to sacrifice his son for God.
