Manjeet Kaur, who was pursuing an MBA from Symbiosis, Pune, hanged herself from a ceiling fan at home in central Delhi’s West Patel Nagar last week.
The police said Kaur took the extreme step after her fiancé, Saurabh Gugnani, allegedly told her during an internet chat to marry someone else or commit suicide.
Gugnani had allegedly demanded a Honda City car and Rs. 5 lakh as dowry from Kaur and her family. Despite the wedding date and venue having been fixed, Gugnai refused to marry Kaur as his dowry demands were not met, said a police officer.
Gugnani, a senior manager in the same company, is absconding and so is his mother.
