The total figures may rise further as the online applications will be received till midnight on Monday. Last year, the university had received over 2.75 lakh applications.
Since the online process started much earlier this year, a record 2,25,049 lakh applicants applied online. Even though the offline process started on June 5, about 59,586 forms were sold from the eight centres across Delhi.
Even St Stephen’s College received 29,672 applications for its 11 courses. Like always, economics remains the preferred subject with 5,659 applicants at the college.
With a rise in the number of applications from last year, the cut-offs are expected to climb higher, say principals.
"Looking at the kind of response DU has received this year, the cut-offs are likely to go higher for all subjects being offered," said the principal of a prominent college on condition of anonymity.
