The Supreme Court on Monday cancelled the All India Pre-Medical Test (AIPMT) entrance exam and asked all "institutions involved in the process" to help the CBSE to conduct fresh exams in four weeks.

The ruling comes after petitioners sought re-conducting of the AIPMT following the leak of the question paper and the circulation of answers at examination centres across 10 states.

Investigations into the use of unfair means have revealed the involvement of an organised gang spread across the country.

According to reports submitted by the Rohtak Police before the apex court, several candidates availed the benefit of the leaked answer keys electronically. As of now, the police have zeroed in on 44 candidates who allegedly used electronic devices, including mobile phones, to answer the questions in the examination.
