Worried he may fail a third time, Odisha student burns himself to death

Two days before result of the Odisha Board Class 12 science examination was to be announced, a 19-year-old boy who had failed to clear the exam twice, burnt himself to death.

Rajesh Kumar Panda, who studied +2 science at a private college in Berhampur town of Ganjam district had failed to clear the exam in his last two attempts. While his parents were at a nearby market, Rajesh set himself on fire after pouring kerosene over his body.

By the time his parents got home, Rajesh was charred to death. Police have started an investigation into the incident after registering a case of unnatural death.

This year, over 96,000 students have appeared for the science exam, the results of which would be declared at 11 am on May 19 in Bhubaneswar.

School and mass education minister, Badri Narayan Patra said the result will be released on the board’s official website: chseodisha.nic.in at 11am on May 19. Students can also check their result at orissaresults.nic.in.

The results of Class 12 arts and commerce examinations would be declared by the end of this month, said the minister.
