A day after Mumbai-based model Leena Kapoor filed a police complaint against former Pakistani cricketer Asad Rauf for exploiting her and making false promises of marriage, she now demands adequate compensation.

A day after Mumbai-based model Leena Kapoor filed a police complaint against former Pakistani cricketer Asad Rauf for exploiting her and making false promises of marriage, she now demands adequate compensation. Kapoor claims that Rauf, a member of the Emirates ICC Elite Umpire Panel, was in a relationship with her for five months and abandoned her all of a sudden. Kapoor sent a written complaint to the office of Pratap Dighavkar, DCP, zone IX in Mumbai, on Monday.

“Mujhe nyay chahiye (I want justice) says the 21-year-old Delhi University graduate, who shifted base to Mumbai a few years ago. “He should fulfill all his promises. He had assured me that he would marry me and give me a flat, car and property in Mumbai. If he does not want to be with me, he should at least give me the house and car and probably visit me once a year,” she says.

Kapoor says that she met the already married 55-year-old in Sri Lanka five months ago and during their first visit, he asked her to marry him. “We stayed together and later he started visiting me in Mumbai. I also accompanied him to Pune for an IPL match and later to Delhi. We went to Karim’s for dinner and some of his fans recognised him and asked him who I was. I was shy and told them that I am a friend. However, he told the public, ‘Yeh meri begum (wife) hain,” she says.

Kapoor says that Rauf had told her that although he was married with two kids, his wife who lives in Lahore, would not have had a problem with his second marriage. “He told me that his religion permits it (a second marriage) and his wife and kids would dance at our wedding. Now, if his wife calls me, I will tell her everything. My photographs are in his phone,” she says.

The “depressed” model recalls the heartbreaking moment when Rauf called it off with her a few days ago. “He said everything is over between us and asked me to forget him. He used me. Yeh aise na jaane kitni ladkiyon ke saath kar chuke honge (He made so many promises. He must have cheated so many other girls).” Rauf remained unavailable for comment.

He is a former Pakistani cricketer and currently an umpire with a first-class career — he has umpired in 72 ODIS and 29 tests. In 2006, he was promoted to the Emirates Elite Panel of ICC Umpires.He said everything is over between us and asked me to forget him.
