Poonam Dhillon says she arranged Padmini Kolhapure’s wedding jewellery when she ‘ran away and got married’

Poonam Dhillon has said that she arranged jewellery and wedding outfits for Padmini Kolhapure when she got married against the wishes of her parents.

Poonam Dhillon has revealed that she organised the wedding attire for Padmini Kolhapure when she “ran away and got married” against the wishes of her parents. Padmini and Poonam visited the sets of the singing reality show Sa Re Ga Ma Pa. Poonam added that she also helped Padmini with her jewellery at the time.

Poonam said, “In simple words, bhag kar shaadi ki thi Padmini ne (Padmini ran away to get married)’ and whatever jewellery she was wearing, we gave it to her. We were all so young, and we had no clue what she was going to wear for her wedding, so we organised her clothes. We have seen a lot of ups and downs together, happy, and sad. I believe, family is chosen by God but there is this one relationship we have the liberty to choose for ourselves and that is friendship. I can do anything for this friendship. ”

Padmini added that Poonam “has been very giving”. She said, “She put in huge efforts in the course of our friendship when my mother and father were not supportive of my marriage, Poonam helped me a lot.” The episode featuring Padmini and Poonam as special guests will air over the weekend.

Padmini Kolhapure married producer Pradeep Sharma aka Titu Sharma whom she met on the sets of Aisa Pyar Kahan in 1986. Talking about her marriage, Padmini had told Filmfare in a 2013 interview, “Our parents were strict. Even if I left my hair loose, dad would say, ‘Tie it or I’ll chop them off!’ Acting was just a profession, after that, I had to head straight home. So a love marriage was out of the question. But love happened when I met my husband Tutu.”

She added that her sister Shivangi and her husband Shakti Kapoor supported her. Padmini also said that she got married in producer Ashok Thakeria’s house (former husband of Poonam Dhillon).
