The first song from Shabaash Mithu, titled Fateh, was released by T-Series on their YouTube channel on Tuesday. Fateh has been composed by Salvage Audio Collective and Charan; it is sung by Romy, as well as, Charan. The music video starts with Taapsee Pannu getting ready. The nearly two-minute-long song shows Taapsee Pannu as cricketer Mithali Raj, on whom the film is based, practising day and night for her matches. The actor throughout the song is seen with her team players on the field and later celebrating with them. The actor is shown practising hard and travelling by train for her matches.
The video gives a glimpse of Lord's Cricket Ground in London followed by Taapsee pulling out a bag from under her bed and brushing off the dust. She is next seen at the Lord's, playing with her team for India. Taapsee is seen back in India jogging in the early hours at her hometown. The song packs a punch and shows off Taapsee's grit and determination. The core of the track lies in the spirit of fighting against all odds and never giving up.
Reacting to the song, a fan commented, "Tapasi Pannu: the real sherni (tigress). The song is perfect for encouraging woman power." A person wrote, "Another inspirational Song Fateh in the powerful and melodies voice of Romy and Charan." One fan commented, “This movie is going to be a masterpiece... Hats off to the entire team of this movie... God bless you guys." One person wrote, "Be proud of Mithali Raj, she is always fateh in the battlefield," read a comment.
The first trailer of the film, a biopic on former Indian skipper Mithali Raj, was released earlier this month by Taapsee. "You know the name, now get ready to see the story behind what makes Mithali a legend. Woman who redefined 'The Gentleman’s game'. She created HERSTORY and I’m honoured to bring it to you. #ShabaashMithu 15th JULY," the actor posted on Twitter, unveiling the trailer. The film is helmed by Srijit Mukherjee and produced by Viacom18 Studios. The film also features seasoned actor Vijay Raaz and will release in theatres on July 15.
Written by Priya Aven, the film is a coming-of-age story of women's cricket in India as witnessed by its most successful cricketer. It will chronicle the highs and lows, setbacks and moments of euphoria in Mithali Raj's life. In a career spanning over two decades, she has smashed seven consecutive 50s in one-day international matches and led India in four World Cups.
