DC box office collection day 2: Lokesh Kanagaraj has stepped in front of the camera with his acting debut, DC, after establishing himself as a filmmaker with films such as Kaithi, Vikram and Leo. Released in theatres on August 7, the film has received mixed-to-positive reviews from critics and audiences. After a slow opening on day one, DC saw a significant increase in box office collections on its first Saturday.

According to Sacnilk, DC collected ₹4.40 crore in India on its opening day. The film recorded a 52.3% jump on Saturday, earning ₹6.70 crore across 3,549 shows. With this increase, the film’s India net collection has reached ₹11.10 crore.

The film earned ₹4.70 crore from Tamil shows, ₹1.80 crore from Telugu shows and ₹0.50 crore from Hindi shows. The rise in collections on day two gives the film a stronger position heading into the rest of the weekend.

About Lokesh Kanagaraj's DC

Directed by Arun Matheswaran, DC is a modern adaptation of the Devdas story. The film follows Devadas, also known as Das, a violent gangster who is estranged from his father. His relationship with Parvathy, a bar singer, is cut short, while Chandra, an abused and exploited prostitute, sees hope in Das.

The film stars Lokesh Kanagaraj, Wamiqa Gabbi, Sanjana Krishnamoorthy and Krish Dayal in key roles. While the performances have received praise, Anirudh Ravichander's music has also emerged as one of the highlights of the film. Lokesh, who has primarily worked as a director, takes on the lead role in DC. His performance marks his acting debut and has been one of the talking points surrounding the film.

With the film showing growth on its second day, the focus now shifts to its Sunday collection and whether it can continue its upward trend at the box office.
