Setting aside speculations that former Haryana minister of state Gopal Kanda has fled the country to evade arrest his brother has claimed that Kanda will surrender at the Rohini Courts on Monday.

Govind Kanda, brother of the absconding former minister, said on Friday that Kanda would surrender in the court at 11.30am. Govind heads a charitable institution, Tara Baba Memorial Trust, and MDK International school in Sirsa.

Govind refuted allegations that his brother had fled the country and claimed he would show up at the Rohini Court in New Delhi on Monday.

On the other hand, a Gurgaon police inspector, who was deputed as station house officer of the Civil Lines police station in the year 2010, has come under the Delhi Police scanner. He had emailed a negative character report on Geetika Sharma to Emirate Airlines, following which she was sacked.

Delhi police continues Raids in Sirsa
Meanwhile, the Delhi Police on Thursday night conducted fresh raids in Sirsa to trace Kanda’s whereabouts.

A Delhi court had rejected Kanda’s bail plea on Thursday, following which Delhi Police had issued a look out notice for him.

A team headed by assistant commissioner of police Shailender Kumar conducted raids at Kanda’s Rania Road house around 10.30 pm on Thursday night.

Sources said the police believed that Kanda was likely to hideout here in Sirsa.

The Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) gave a call of total bandh in Sirsa, Kalanwali, Dabwali and Ellenabad towns on Saturday.

Padam Chand Jain, district president, INLD, said their party would request all shopkeepers to close their establishments in Sirsa and other towns to register their protest against the alleged soft approach of Delhi Police against Kanda.

Haryana CM distances self from Kanda
Stating that he was a “law abiding citizen”, Haryana chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda on Friday said Kanda was not part of his government anymore. Distancing himself from Kanda, Hooda said Kanda, who has been booked for abetment to suicide, should join the investigation.

“Every individual should cooperate in the investigation process. He is no longer part of my government,” he said.
