Bihar election key candidates results LIVE: With the counting of votes for the Bihar Assembly elections underway, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Vishvanath Yadav on Friday expressed confidence in his party's prospects, asserting that "Tejashwi's government is coming in Bihar."

Speaking to reporters in Gaya, RJD leader said, "There is support from everyone, and there is a feeling of change in Bihar, and Tejashwi's government is coming. When it comes to Gaya, the Gaya district is always lucky for the RJD party. When nobody supported RJD, people of the Gaya district always supported us."

Who is Maithili Thakur?

Hailing from Benipatti in Madhubani district, about 35 km from Alinagar. She and her brothers, Rishav and Ayachi, rose to fame through social media performances celebrating Bihar’s folk heritage. Recipient of the Ustad Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskar from the Sangeet Natak Akademi, Thakur represents the youngest face in the BJP’s candidate list.

After joining the party, she said, “Whatever job the party assigns to me, I will do it with full dedication.” Seen as a cultural icon, Thakur’s entry has energised the BJP’s campaign and widened its youth appeal in north Bihar.

Bihar election key candidates results LIVE: The Election Commission of India will be declaring the results for the Bihar assembly polls on Friday. The counting of votes is set to begin at 8 AM. As per exit polls, the JD(U)-led NDA alliance is set to win the elections with at least 125 seats, which is above the majority mark of 122.

On preference as the chief minister, People's Pulse found Tejashwi Yadav to be more popular than Nitish Kumar, the Janata Dal United supremo, who has been at the top office for nine terms.

As per the pollster, the RJD leader has received 32 per cent of the votes. Nitish Kumar came in second with 30 percent of the vote. Meanwhile, tied for third were Union Minister Chirag Paswan of the LJP (Ram Vilas) and the Jan Suraaj Party chief Prashant Kishor at 8%.

JD(U) chief and incumbent chief minister Nitish Kumar has not been offiicially named as the CM candidate for the NDA alliance. However, it is assumed that Kumar will be named for the top office. If so, Kumar will be looking at this tenth term as chief minister of Bihar.

Union Education Minister and BJP in charge of Bihar Dharmendra Pradhan has stated that there is no confusion regarding the face and that Nitish Kumar will be fielded as CM. However, an official announcement for the same is yet to be made.

Meanwhile, exit poll predictions indicated little to no impact of Prashant Kishor's Jan Suraaj Party, which was being seen by some as a threat to the votes of the NDA and the Mahagathbandhan. However, most pollsters have given the JSP zero to five seats.
