Man arrested over sexual assault of 17-year-old boy in Haridwar: Police
A man was arrested in Haridwar’s Buggawala over the alleged sexual assault of a 17-year-old boy; police said an associate also recorded and shared a video.
A man was arrested in Uttarakhand’s Haridwar district on Thursday in connection with the alleged sexual assault of a 17-year-old boy, police said.
A 17-year-old boy was allegedly sexually assaulted in Haridwar’s Buggawala; police arrested a man and launched an investigation into the case.
According to a complaint lodged at Buggawala police station on September 1, the incident took place on August 30. The complainant, a local resident, alleged that Abhishek, a resident of Shahidwala Grant village, sexually assaulted his minor son.
The complaint also alleged that an associate of the accused, who is from the same village, recorded a video of the alleged incident and later circulated it online. Police registered a case under relevant sections of the law and launched an investigation.
Taking note of the seriousness of the allegations, Haridwar SSP Navneet Bhullar directed the Buggawala station house officer to ensure the prompt arrest of the accused. A police team led by sub-inspector Arvind Bhatt arrested Abhishek from the Buggawala area on Thursday.
Police said further legal proceedings are underway and additional action will be taken based on the investigation and evidence collected in the case.
