Vice President M. Venkaiah Naidu wants the government to pursue Mahatma Gandhi’s dreams to usher in ‘Ram Rajya,’ in the country, which will in turn put an end to discrimination of all kinds in the country.

Naidu was speaking at a function to unveil a 1.8 metre tall bronze statue of Mahatma Gandhi on his 148th birth anniversary at Rajghat here on Monday.

The Vice President said that Gandhiji’s thoughts are immortal, and his wish for ‘Ram Rajya’ should be properly understood.

Ram Rajya, he said, means ideal rule, ‘where there is no fear, where there is no hunger, where there is no corruption, where there is no exploitation, where there is no discrimination.’

“It is our duty at various levels and we must all work for the ideals of Ram Rajya,” Naidu said.

The Vice President also inaugurated an interpretation centre in the parking area of the Rajghat Samadhi complex. The facility will enable interactive learning about the life and works of Gandhi through a digital display using LED screens.

Visitors can watch films, life events, listen to speeches of Gandhiji and participate in quiz, using ear phones for interaction without disturbance.
