Eleven people were killed at Hapur checkpost near Ghaziabad in Uttar Pradesh early on Sunday in a collision between two trucks, says the police.

Six people were killed on the spot while 10 were critically injured and were rushed to two city hospitals, Ghaziabad Senior Superintendent of Police Deepak Ratan told IANS.

Five died in the hospital, Ratan said.

The accident took place at 3.20 am when the trucks approaching the checkpost tried to overtake each other.
