With his resignation from the party, the BJP, it seems, is passing through a bad phase. Besides Fateh Bahadur, many other BJP leaders are in close contact with the BSP. All of them are planning to join the party.

Senior SP leader Jamuna Nishad also joined the BSP a month earlier. Fateh Bahadur Singh, son of former Chief Minister Late Veer Bahadur Singh, is considered to be a popular leader in Paniara assembly segment.

Senior BSP leader Radheshyam Bharti said that the party had consolidated its position in Gorakhpur division. According to party sources, the BSP finalised the names of at least half a dozen candidates for various assembly seats in Gorakhpur and Maharajganj districts.

The party sources said that Jaiprakash Nishad would be the party candidate from Maniram assembly segment in the ensuing assembly election.

Fateh Bahadur Singh, who was elected from Paniara assembly segment of Maharajganj district on the BJP ticket, was fade up with the senior party leaders. They started searching for a strong party candidate for the Paniara assembly seat.

Keeping this in view, Fateh Bahadur Singh contacted BSP president and former Chief Minister Mayawati and joined the party.

According to sources, at least 12 BJP leaders of Gorakhpur and Maharajganj districts are in touch with senior BSP leader and they may leave the party.

Sources said that a group of SP leaders was also in contact with Fateh Bahadur Singh and they were inviting him to join the party.
