CM sheds Home for son

Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal has shed five departments, including Home, for his son Sukhbir who was sworn in as Deputy Chief Minister.

Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal has shed five departments, including Home, for his son Sukhbir who was sworn in as Deputy Chief Minister on Wednesday.

An official spokesman said in Chandigarh on Thursday that Sukhbir has been given six departments, five of which have been shed by his father. The sixth Sports and Youth Services has been taken away from Guljar Singh Ranike and given to the Deputy Chief Minister. Besides Home, Sukhbir has got the departments of NRI Affairs, Water Supply & Sanitation, Information & Public Relations and Science, Technology, Environment and Non-Conventional Energy which were earlier with Badal Senior.

The Chief Minister is left with eight departments, including Personnel, General Administration, Excise and Taxation, Power and Employment.

Ranike is left with three departments of Animal Husbandry & Fisheries, Dairy Development and Welfare of SCs and BCs, he said.
