Computer training being imparted to SC students

AS MANY as 900 students belonging to the Scheduled Castes are being provided computer training this financial year under employment-oriented computer programme, implemented in 30 predominantly Scheduled Caste districts of Madhya Pradesh. Last year 100 students were trained under the programme.

AS MANY as 900 students belonging to the Scheduled Castes are being provided computer training this financial year under employment-oriented computer programme, implemented in 30 predominantly Scheduled Caste districts of Madhya Pradesh. Last year 100 students were trained under the programme.

The scheme is being implemented by the CEDMAP from 2005-06 and the training imparted by the CRISP in last financial year. A sum of Rs 1 crore is being spent during the current financial year under the programme.

In each district covered under the programme, a sum of Rs 3.36 lakh would be spent. Three training courses have been launched under the programme and a sum of Rs 11, 200 is spent on each student.

The students are taught these courses along with their normal studies. The programme is being implemented at district-level centres for excellence in education and post-matric hostels.

The courses include data entry-cum-office assistant, financial accounting and database management and DTP and screen-printing. In each district, a district-level committee comprising a representative of the collector, officer of Scheduled Caste Welfare Department, a representative of CEDMAP and superintendent of concerning hostel, has selected thirty students for the training.

The students receive Rs 800 per month and Rs 600 in a year for education material. There is a provision of providing Rs 1,000 annually for follow-up training.
