He said a number of complaints were received by him during the Janta Diwas that some musclemen had constructed houses over the Gram Samaj ponds by levelling them. SDMs were directed to remove such encroachments and take stringent action against the guilty in order to comply with the Supreme Court ruling regarding illegal occupation of public property. The DM also said that encroachment over roads and drains in rural areas must be checked and removed immediately.
If laxity was found on part of any of the SDMs, they would be punished severely, the district magistrate said. Besides, in case any complaint of encroachment was received then the SDMs would be held directly responsible.
He immediately ordered the SDM to remove construction over a pond in Jadavpur in Koraon.
