Fake currency seized in Malda

Twentyeight-year-old Mohammad Younis has been arrested from his father-in-law’s house at Jadupur on the charge of posessing fake currency, police said today.

Twentyeight-year-old Mohammad Younis has been arrested from his father-in-law’s house at Jadupur on the charge of posessing fake currency, police said today.

The fake currency, with a face value of rupees three lakh, was found from his posession last night, the police said.

All the fake notes were of the denomination of Rs 500.

Acting on a tip-off the police raided his in-law’s house and arrested Younis, who was a resident of Chori Anantapur area of the district bordering Bangladesh.

He had plans to go to Gujarat with the fake currency, the police said.
