Night trials of trains on the 3-km link began on June 15 and they have been successful so far, Delhi Metro officials said, adding trials during day time are expected to start soon.

Metro officials said the documents regarding the safety inspection were sent to CMRS RK Kardam last week and work on the corridor is almost completed. Kardam said he has received the papers.

"I have received documents (regarding the inspection of the Line). They are under examination," he said. After examining the papers, the CMRS would give a date for the inspection.

Ghaziabad Development Authority officials have said the line will be opened to public on July 9 but there is no confirmation in this regard from the Delhi Metro.

Stations on the Line will have a completely different look and art works will adorn walls of the two stations - Kaushambi and Vaishali.

With this, Ghaziabad will be the third satellite city in the national capital region (NCR) to get connected with Metro after Noida and Gurgaon.
