Governor Rajeswar to grace UPRTOU convocation today

THE SECOND convocation function of UP Rajarshi Tandon Open University (UPRTOU) will be held in the open grounds of North Central Zone Cultural Centre (NCZCC) on Saturday.

THE SECOND convocation function of UP Rajarshi Tandon Open University (UPRTOU) will be held in the open grounds of North Central Zone Cultural Centre (NCZCC) on Saturday.

Noted population expert, honorary professor of the Institute of Economic Growth (New Delhi) and a member of the National Commission for Population, Prof Ashish Bose, will be the chief guest on the occasion while UP Governor and the chancellor of UPRTOU TV Rajeswar will preside over the ceremony.

As many as 2819 students will be awarded degrees on the occasion.

For the session 2004, 1057 successful students and for the session 2005 a total of 1762 successful students will be conferred the degrees of BA, BCom, BSc, BCA, BEd, MA, BLiS, MLIS, PGDJMC, PGDFM, PGDEM, PGDCA, PGDIMB, DCWE, DCWH and Graduate in Tourism (BTS).

UPRTOU vice-chancellor Prof Kedar Nath Singh Yadav, informed that well-known genealogist and the director of the Centre for Cellular and Molecular Biology (Hyderabad)

Padamshri Dr Lalji Tandon will be conferred the DSc Degree while the noted educationist and the VC of Jamia Millia Islamia Central University Prof Mushirul Hasan will be conferred DPhil (Honoris Causa) on the occasion.

For the session 2004, one student from each faculty will be awarded the Chancellor's Gold Medal and 11 meritorious students will be awarded the University Gold Medal during the function.

Meena Manral and Reetima Srivastava will receive the Chancellors' Gold Medal.

For the year 2004, the University Gold Medal will be given to Prashant Goswami (MLIS), Meena Manral (Ancient History), Prateshwari Lal Srivastava (BLIS), Archana Mishra (BA) and for the year 2005 to Savita Kumari (MLIS), Ranjana Singh (MA Medieval and Modern History), Reetta Kumari (BLIS), Prashant Singh Chauhan (BA), Dinesh Yadav (B Com), Smita Singh (BSc) and Reetima Srivastava (BEd).
