LeT, SIMI suspected in Mumbai blasts

Police suspect Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and banned Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI) to be behind the serial blasts in suburban trains in Mumbai that claimed 190 lives and left over 600 injured.

The magnitude of the sychronised blasts have conclusively pointed to the use of RDX by the attackers, official sources said in Mumbai on Wednesday.

Seven synchronised blasts in subruban trains in Mumbai on Tuesday evening have killed at least 190 people and left another 625 injured.

Several modules of LeT and SIMI were busted and huge amount of explosive materials, including RDX, were recovered during raids at various places in Aurangabad, Nasik and Nagpur in last two months, they said.

During investigations, it also came to light that similar modules of LeT were actively operating in several towns of Maharashtra besides Hyderabad and Bangalore.
