We want to continue our electoral alliance with Congress, but tie with other partners of the UPA will depend on the political situation prevailing in the country, Paswan said in Sonepat on Tuesday evening.

Asked about an alliance with RJD in Bihar, the Union Minister for Chemical and Fertilisers and Steel declined to comment on the matter.

The party had earlier said that it would contest on as many as 16 Lok Sabha seats in Bihar.

Paswan also indicated that the party would contest the Lok Sabha elections in other states also but did not divulge the names of them.

During 2004 general elections, Congress had contested on four seats in Bihar, while LJP and RJD had fielded eight and 26 candidates respectively. In total, the state has 40 parliamentary constituencies.
